Letting a Social Media Agency Assist Donkey Kong's Reputation

By Rob Sutter

There are certain video game characters that start off on the dark side before making the transition into the heroic way of life. Out of all of the characters one can name in this regard, I think the one who started this trend is Donkey Kong. Even though he's currently playing on the field for the good guys, many gamers may still point at his time as a bad guy even still. A social media agency may just be able to help shift this gorilla's reputation so that it benefits him.

"Donkey Kong" is the title of the game in which this noteworthy ape started off. Instead of being the hero, DK came about as the treacherous gorilla who snatched the girlfriend of Mario, Pauline, away from the everyman in what could best be called King Kong-esque. DK did not start off as a hero but he certainly ended as one, as one can see by the many titles in the acclaimed "Donkey Kong Country" series. Even so, there's no question that gamers won't easily forget about the criminal past that this ape has had.

Since those days, DK and Mario seemed to have made up and now you can see the gorilla alongside the cast of characters in the series. "Donkey Kong Country" and its many games apparently solidified the ape as a hero but I think that interacting with Mario helped him. His bouts of racing at breakneck velocities and competing at high levels in tennis matches are aspects which cannot be ignored. Even still, the former villain may benefit from the services of a certain kind of agency.

An agency like fishbat would be extra helpful for someone like DK, who clearly needs it. Reputation management is something to take into account since it will be able to bring down the bad press he has received. Instead, DK would be serviced by a good social media agency so that his name can be found in a positive light. Someone like DK, considering his past, might find that this would benefit him in the long run so what exactly would he have to lose?

Video game heroes are the types of characters who need to have the support of the fans all the way. Without it, then it's doubtful that anyone will invest time - not to mention money - into the products. Will DK's ascension to ultimate heroism be with its faults? Of course it will, but I don't think that it should deter this character. He's done well to help his reputation thus far and it seems like all he needs is just a few more services to help push his name further.
