By Nannie Lei

During the time after Google released the Penguin update (in 2012), the web based business world got turned on its ear. People were running around like crazy trying to figure out what it meant for them. As a direct result of this, the incredible importance of social signals became far more widely known. This mainly has to do with SEO but it is really important to the amount of traffic you attract to your website. If you don't at least acknowledge that this development has occurred, there is now ay that your business will survive. Obviously it's trendy today but that doesn't stop it from being important or increasing. If you'd like to implement social signals, whether for SEO or other purposes, here are a few things that you can do.

Theses days, which are post Penguin, you have to understand that everything has changed. Many things have changed, but social signals has been impacted. When you take Google out of the picture, you will see that nothing really changed. Do not forget about the fact that people and website traffic can really control things. Most people have grown tired of seeing Facebook and Twitter, but they continue to have a huge popularity. It may not be talked about as much as the top two social media sites, but Yelp is also a powerhouse. Anyone who uses this kind of website likes to share their thoughts and feelings with other users of the site. This is not anything that has not been done before, but Google likes it. If you have any doubts about whether or not you actually understand the people in your audience, you obviously don't and that must be rectified. It is important that this be both immediate and the only thing you focus on your your message is just going to be lost on them.

For many years, IM marketers have known that keeping things as simple as possible for visitors is important. You understand about putting too many clicks in a process, which is known as click stream. The also applies to social media engagement when you utilize different widgets for sharing. This button can be considered to be a good example because now it is possible to get a follow button immediately. The user clicks it one time and they're instantly following you. Or, they can click on your button and immediately like one of your Facebook pages. Engagement is considered to be the "in" word these days. It is now all about engaging your visitors or paying very close attention to social engagement.

Using SEO on your Facebook page doesn't just help on Facebook, it can help with the rest of your marketing too. Composing spammy feeling content is just, plainly, a terrible idea. The people at Facebook are really smart about this, seeing as they're in the Google SERPS. Since we're on the subject--you should also be testing search results for your social pages and social content. The relationship between Google and Twitter isn't looking as great as it used to look. Come to think of it, real time Twitter updates haven't been a part of the SERPs for at least a few months now. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to use Facebook within your SEO.

It's tough when you have to play catch-up in anything and doing it in your online marketing is challenging. Social signals and SEO is not that hard to put together. Basically, it already exists. You have to know how to leverage them. Accomplish by working hard and do not try to make too many changes all at once.
