While watching some football on the television, I happened to notice an advertisement that made me very angry. The commercial was for the brand new version of the Samsung GALAXY phone and was designed to hock the hype of Apple's brand new iPhone 5. The advertisement just mocked Apple's product and fans as a bunch of low IQ dimwits fanatic over the tiniest changes to the product. I can't imagine anybody watch that commercial and saying to themselves "yeah the iPhone is terrible, I think I'm going to get a GALAXY phone." This one case where an Internet marketing firm's campaign just does not work effectively.
To make your client's product stand out from the competition, you need to explain why their product is better than the opposition's product without accidentally turning off your target market. The big strategy is to show what the product gives over the competition, for example for a smartphone it could be better 4G or better rates in pricing.
Next you have to try and build buzz for your product. Before you start the launch of the product slowly demonstrate what it does in the lead-up to the release date. Give some small teasers on YouTube showing some of the great features your product will give the customers. That way it builds anticipation for them wanting to purchase it, to see what other great features the product will provide them.
A plan to initiate as a marketer is when you are trying to get people attracted to your client's item, how to you bring these people to see what the product is about? One idea is to go to the Internet and establish some Facebook and Twitter accounts for the product this will bring in people who have a list of what they "like" in their profiles. I would recommend using that as an idea for how you are going to effectively market your product.
Effective marketing is very important, without good promotion, it is going to be tough to engage somebody to want to use a new product. Make sure that you talk at the person and not insult their intelligence. Negative reaction to an item, is the last thing you want to have happen in your promotional push.
